Making state government more effective, efficient, and accountable

When I ran for the Legislature, I promised voters that I would endeavor to make state government more effective, efficient, and accountable.

That’s why I’m proud to share that, following my first legislative session, the Speaker of the House appointed me to the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee (JLARC). In fact, JLARC’s explicit mission statement is to “make state government operations more effective, efficient, and accountable.”

The Auburn Reporter published an article about my service on this committee:

“As an elected official, perhaps my greatest responsibility is ensuring that state government operates effectively and is accountable to the people of Washington,” Stokesbary said. “For that reason, I was honored to be appointed to the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee by Speaker of the House Frank Chopp.”

In recent weeks, the committee has received auditors’ reports on Medicaid fraud, workers’ compensation claims management, and workforce development programs.

“I am committed to working in a bipartisan fashion with my colleagues from both the House and Senate to ensure we have the most efficient state government possible,” said Stokesbary.
